Ms. Caribfest Contestants ’14

Meet the Contestants of Ms. Caribfest Pageant

  • Contestant # 1 – DeBosshe Christian:  DeBosshe is currently a Sophomore at MSU. She was born in Jackson, Mississippi and move to Texas at the age of 13. DeBosshe is the only girl on both sides of her family with two brothers and bunch of male cousins. She started taking dance classes and entering competitions at the age of six before giving up at the age of 13 when she fell in love with volleyball. She has been playing volleyball since middle school and continue to play. Her other hobbies include hair styling and eating pizza and blue is her favorite color. DeBosshe stands at 5ft and 7 inches with a lovable personality that has a kick of spice and goofiness. Do not take this for granted because DeBoshe is a strong individual and is very outspoken. She definitely bring some spice to the Miss Caribfest 2014 Pageant.

  • Contestant #2 – Chanice La Touche : From the Spice Island of Grenada is 20 year old Chanice La Touche, a vibrant, multifaceted, and assiduous young lady who finds happiness in dancing and socializing with friends. Chanice has been dancing from the tender age of seven, dancing is part of her soul and her safe haven. She has been exposed to both modern and traditional dance. Currently, she is pursing a bachelor in Accounting, with intentions of becoming an Accountant. Prior to Midwestern State University, she attained an Associate degree in Business and worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia as a Teller. Chanice believes that there is nothing greater than a challenge.

  • Contestant # 3 – D’Elle George:  D’Elle George is a 20 year old fun, loving and determined individual, who was born in the Nature Isle of the Caribbean, Dominica. As a firm believer in the importance of being involved in extra-curricular activities, D’Elle occupies herself reading and listening to music during her leisure time. D’Elle spent most of her childhood days here in Wichita Falls with her parents, while her mom attended Midwestern State University. At the age of 10 she moved to Nature’s Little Secrets, The British Virgin Islands and lived on the island of Jost Van Dyke. D’elle was very active within her community. She joined and led many of the island’s youth groups and organized many of the communities’ activities. Her leadership skills granted her the opportunity to be nominated for “Most Outstanding  Youth,” of her youth group and was able to attain the scholastic awards; 1st place for a territory wide essay competition. At the age of 14 she then moved to the main island of the British Virgin Islands, Tortola.  It did not take long until she became a member of another youth group and was voted vice president.  Being a part of this group, she participated in many community projects and received many opportunities; traveled as an ambassador to Europe: Paris, England and Spain. D’Elle took an interest in modeling and was chosen to showcase clothing from top designers at many of the islands biggest fashion shows, including Summer Sizzle. She boldly ripped the runway for winner of Project Runway 2011, Anya Ayoung Chee and many other  fashion designers. D’Elle is currently enrolled here at Midwestern State University, which plays a vital role in preparation for her future goal of pursuing as a neonatologist. Her platform for this year’s Miss Caribfest Pageant is the importance of education. D’Elle believes that having an education is one of the most important tools to succeed in life.

  • Contestant # 4 – Indira Placide: Hailing from the Helen of the west, Saint Lucia, I am 22 year old Indira Placide. Currently, I am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology in hopes of becoming a dentist. I desire to improve people’s lives in the area of dental therapy. During my spare time, I nourish my mind by reading a variety of literature. Additionally, I view a great deal of motivational videos by one of my role models, Joel Osteen. I have taken the stand for women who suffer from low self-esteem. In our society, there is a plethora of women with deep insecurities. I believe we need to dig deep for a solution to this dilemma because of its devastating effect.

 

  • Contestant # 5 – Valencia Morris: I was born in Dallas, Texas and reside in Rowlett, Texas. I am the daughter of Roslyn and Danny Morris and have 3 siblings. I graduated from Sachse High School in 2010, while also attending Richland Community College.I chose to pursue a nursing degree and complete my prerequisites at Prairie View A&M University in Houston, Texas. During my two years at Prairie View A&M University, I was a member of the Prairie View Student Nurses Association and became the treasurer. Also, I participated in numerous community/volunteer service opportunities such as: the Tour Day Pink Breast Cancer Walk, PVAMU Panthers at Work (campus beautification), and became a PVAMU Certified Student Leader which allowed me to mentor in-coming students & lead student activities. After completing my nursing prerequisites at Prairie View A&M University, I transferred to Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Currently, I am a second-semester nursing student in Midwestern State University’s Wilson School of Nursing. I am an active member of the Student Nurses Association, Black Student Union, MSU Volunteers, Wichita Falls Food Bank Volunteer, and Impact Ministry (a Christian organization for college students who desire to volunteer in the community), and was a participant in the Midwestern State University Study Abroad Program for 2013. I am also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends who are very important to me and community service. Following graduation, my intentions are to attend Graduate School. My academic endeavors will culminate with becoming a Nurse Practitioner.
